Automatic lessons, Hybrid lessons and Electric lessons
Naas Driving Academy is pleased to announce the addition of an automatic car to our fleet. The differences between a manual car and an automatic car is that the driver does not need to change gear by themselves using a clutch pedal when driving an automatic. The automatic car does not have a clutch pedal as a manual does, therefore when driving an automatic the left foot does not need to be used.
Learning to drive in an automatic car is a popular choice for learners who find changing gear and using a clutch pedal difficult – which makes it a popular choice for the elderly learner or those with some restricting disability. If possible we would recommend someone try and learn in a manual car as each new driver needs to do 12 EDT lessons which gives the driver good opportunity to learn with the manual, then if they find the operation of the clutch or gear changes to be difficult then move to an automatic car.
If you choose to learn and take the driving test in an automatic car your driving licence will only allow you to drive an automatic car, if you wish to drive a manual car you would need to take another driving test in a manual car.

Automatic lessons

Done in a car without a clutch pedel or need to change gears yourself.
The car uses them automatically for you.
Unlike the Manual gearbox these cars can be very easy and simple to drive.
Hybrid
cars

Dual engine vehicles with either a Petrol or Diesel engine and with an electric engine too. Hybrids are different to electric cars as they do not need to be charged. Hybrid cars charge themselves using the engine and brakes. They take a slightly different driving style to maximise your fuel efficiency.
Electric
vehicles

Require charging , like a phone, but have the big advantage of not burning petrol or diesel at any stage. While certain electric cars have the ability to gain some energy back, like a hybrid, it cannot create its own energy. Once the cars battery runs out it will need to be recharged.
