Car driving lessons

(category B)

This licence allows you to drive any vehicle under 3,500kgs (3.5 Tonne) and less than 8 passengers. This can be a small car or a large van style vehicle. Before driving you will need to complete some steps to getting a licence.

We at Naas Driving Academy are committed to providing our students with exceptional training in all vehicles. Our car instructors are highly skilled and have a passion for their subject and enjoy imparting their skills and knowledge in a relaxed, friendly and efficient manner. Giving you the tools and ability to learn how to drive and to pass your driving test with confidence.

If you are just starting out and have yet to complete your EDT lessons or if you have your EDT requirement completed and want to prepare yourself for the driving test we have the perfect driving instructor for you to guide you on your journey. We offer lessons in both manual and automatic cars and have recently added four new manual Hundai I20’s along with our automatic Toyota Hybrid CHR to our fleet of vehicles. Our lessons run from 8am to 9pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays to allow for all training needs.

EDT (essential Driver Training)

If the issue date of your first B category (Car) learner permit is on or after 4 April 2011, in order to be able to sit your full driving test, you must first complete all 12 EDT lessons.

To start your EDT lessons you must first have obtained your learner permit from the NDLS

Hybrid Electric & Automatic

Automatic lessons, Hybrid lessons and Electric lessons.

The differences between a manual car and an automatic car is that the driver does not need to change gear by themselves using a clutch pedal when driving an automatic.

Applying for a Theory Test

If you’re applying for a learner permit for the first time or upgrading your license within the car or motorbike category, you must take the Driver Theory Test. Note that there are separate tests for cars and motorbikes.

The Driver Theory Test is a computerized exam consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions, with a fee of €45. Revision materials are available in the following formats:
